5 Beauty Supplements Worth the Hype

glow cream plus beauty supplements made for Erica

Not to brag, but I am kind of a vitamin aficionado, or hoarder… according to my boyfriend.

I have a cabinet devoted to supplements, am obsessed w/ my pill organizer (best of the best), & every Sunday I spend at least an hour getting my pills ready for the week.

Yea, I am a total freak about my vitamins, but HEY- if you’re gonna be an extremist about something- let it be vitamins. Ya know?

I take vitamins for brain function, anxiety, stress, heart health, bone health, & BEAUTY.

Lots of beauty vitamins going down in my regimen… cause if you haven’t heard, beauty starts from within. You can use all the serums/lotions/potions in the world, but when it comes to your skin, you gotta start from the inside out.

Read on to check out my top 5 current favorite beauty supplements of the moment!

Vitamins and the absolute best beauty supplements

I. Beauty Benefits of Evening Primrose

Evening Primrose is an oil that comes from, shocker, the primrose plant. Evening Primrose has a long history of being used to support skin health as it is loaded with fatty acids.

It has also been touted as a real savior when it comes to STUBBORN hormonal acne as well (ahem, me). Hormonal acne needs to be treated from within, no creams can save you, so the omega-6 fatty acids in primrose capsules will help clear up your acne issues from the inside. Plus, those same fatty acids help bring back skin elasticity so it’s kind of a win-win.

ALSO- if you suffer from hyper-pigmentation, Evening Primrose will be your new BFF. Taken orally, it provides toning qualities that will help even out your skin tone & fade any dark spots.

That said- you can also use topical Evening Primrose oil to help reduce acne inflammation & promote faster healing/prevention of scarring. It is incredibly moisturizing, is infused with vitamins/nutrients, & has strong antioxidant properties to help protect skin from free radicals, hence preventing premature aging.

II. Beauty Benefits of Resveratrol

aka wine, basically.

To be more specific though, Resveratrol is the natural phenol found in the skin of red grapes & has shown to be a STRONG antioxidant with powerful anti-inflammatory properties. It’s an anti-aging POWERHOUSE & helps to protect against harmful UVB rays.

Applying it topically or taking it orally can help to stimulate cell renewal & encourage the production of collagen & elastin (bye bye wrinkles). It results in thicker skin, reduced appearance of wrinkles, & an improved tone/texture.

You can also drink it, cause beauty editors everywhere swear by this fountain of youth beverage for glowy skin… but personally, I am all about these Resveratrol wipes that I use EVERY night.

III. Beauty Benefits of Astaxanthin

ever seen a fish egg at a sushi restaurant (side note: delicious, my favorite), well if you haven’t… they are BRIGHT orange.

Fun fact: the reason they are that color is cause they have high levels of Astaxanthin. In fish eggs, the role of the Astaxanthin, is to protect the fish eggs from the sun. SO- when a human takes Astaxanthin, it does the same exact thing…

protect your skin from the sun. GENIUS.

Plus, Astaxanthin is full of powerful anti-oxidants so it also helps reduce inflammation, keeps skin supple, & fades signs of aging tremendously. You can either take it orally or apply it topically with this amazing Astaxanthin serum.

IV. Beauty Benefits of Turmeric

you’ve probably heard about Turmeric, because it’s just so damn popular lately, but let’s go over it for a bit anyways.

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that are known to help soothe any rosacea or eczema flare ups & anti-oxidant properties that help to ward off free radicals from UV sun damage.

It also contains something called Curcumin which works to kill any acne causing bacteria from the inside out.

You can drink it in a tea or add the spice to your meals… people love the taste, so this isn’t usually an issue. For me, I don’t love the taste (unless mixed with warm milk & a shit ton of cinnamon), so I take it orally or use this INSANE probiotic infused turmeric skin cream.

V. Beauty Benefits of Omega

we’ve talked about omega fatty acids, but fish oil is king when it comes to Omegas. It is chock full of Omega 3 fatty acids which have a handful of stellar health benefits, but is mainly beneficial for skin & hair. The ERP & DHA in Omega can help prevent and help skin issues like psoriasis, allergies, & acne.

It also has natural sunscreen properties to protect your skin from the suns nasty skin killing rays. The fatty acids also help to improve skin tone & texture. Taking Omega will help smooth out your skin & even out your tone. All of which lead to a FLAWLESS complexion.

Plus, it is well known for saving hair & making it grow like a weed! It can bring life back into dry hair, & helps soothe an itchy/dandruff ridden scalp.
