Chia Potion

In light of my fave holiday, Halloween, I decided to share with all you little ladies (& gents??) my go-to healthy magic potion. It may not be a bubbling concoction brewed in a cauldron, but it is definitely a little spooky… esp. for those of you who aren’t familiar with ch-ch-chia.

Chia seeds are a definite pantry staple in my home. I sprinkle them on my cereal, mix them in my yogurt, throw them in my cupcake mix, put them in my salsa, & add them to my water (duh!). They are seriously uhhmaze.

I know, I know- it looks super weird, but I promise you, it is really yummy & refreshing. Plus, your body will be so stoked on you for all the goodness you are ingesting.

Don’t be a wuss- try it out & let me know your thoughts!

+ Chia seeds in water alone is pretty boring, uneventful & UGLY… so I decided to make three different versions: mint w/ cucumber, mint w/ pomegranate seeds (<—- my fave), & mint w/ blackberries. All organic, of course! +

Just a few reasons why I am so obsessed with chia seeds:

+ they have more protein than any other seed or grain out there, more calcium than milk, more potassium than bananas, more antioxidants than blueberries, & more iron than spinach. Crazy, right?

+ they also have tons & tons of the essential fatty acids, omega-3 & omega-6.

+ they provide you with mass amounts of energy (see ya later sicko coffee!).

+ they help you lose weight as they are super filling & help speed up metabolism.

+ Drinking Chia seeds (i.e. this potion) is one of the preferred ways ingest ’em as you will retain tons of water, be hydrated for a super long time, & all of the insane nutrients will absorb in your body better & faster.

+ Mix your ingredients, shake well, & let sit in your fridge over night so those little babes can expand to there fullest. +

++ Buyers beware: when you put chia seeds in water, they expand… a lot. So, when toting around this healthy bevvy, expect some sideways stares & some obvious questions- “what the hell are you sipping on?!”. Put the looky-loo’s minds at ease, & let them know it’s actually a super healthy concoction often called “Chia Fresca”, they can google it on there own (& they will)… or you can always send them to this post to get all the delicious deets :). ++

  1. I love Chia Seeds! if you have a sweet tooth try this chia pudding: 1tbsp Cocoa powder, 1 tbsp honey, 1/4 cup almond milk (or regular milk, soy milk etc), 1tsp vanilla, 2 tbsp of Chia seeds. Put it in the fridge and its actually the best healthy pudding ever! Serve with strawberries, or any berry, or by itself.. sooooooooooo yummy! I’m gonna try these concoctions for sure!! xo

    1. Sounds amazing! I was actually planning to make a chia pudding with coconut milk. If I do, I will def. blog about it.

  2. This sounds great! I use chia gel in a lot of my baking but never thought of drinking it.
What is the ratio for Chia seeds to cups of water? Thanks
