DIY Minimalistic Easter Eggs

fashionlush, minimalism, creative easter egg DIY

I am really into minimalism these days, so it only made sense to make some rad DIY minimalistic Easter eggs. Even if I don’t celebrate Easter, it’s still fun to get all Martha Stewart on the situation.

[  update: a reader just had a great idea, using one of these eggs on the Sedar plate for all of you Passover peeps. How chic would that be? Totally doing it!]

Both of these egg projects are super simple to do with the kiddos, but since they are so damn chic, they will also double as great holiday decor for your Easter (or Passover!) shindig.

Check ’em out below! Happpppy Easter/Pesach my chick-a-dees.

DIY NO.1 | B&W SPECKLED EGGS

+ black food coloring

+ 1 teaspoon white vinegar

+ 1 tablespoon hot water

+ tooth brush

+ hardboiled eggs

1. mix together vinegar, water, & food coloring in a heat safe bowl.

2. lay out your eggs on a newspaper.

3. dip your toothbrush in the dye, knock off all the excess liquid, place it over your eggs & gently tap on the “stem” (is that what it’s called?!) of the toothbrush. This will create the splatter effect.

4. Once one side is covered in spreckles, let dry & flip over on the other side. Repeat step 3.

** for the silver eggs I used spray paint, which FYI makes the eggs inedible (shells are penetrable!!). **

DIY NO.2 | MARBLEIZED EGGS

+ food coloring- I used black, which clearly turned green (more vinegar = more vibrant), but you can use whatever color you want.

+ 1 teaspoon white vinegar

+ 1 tablespoon olive oil

+ 3 tablespoon hot water

+ hardboiled eggs

1. mix together your food coloring, water, vinegar, & olive oil in a shallow heat proof bowl.

2. using a fork, swirl together your mixture to help combine the oil (which makes the marble effect).

3. dip your eggs in the mixture getting all sides, take out & let dry.

** again, for the gold eggs I used spray paint, so don’t eat these pleaaaase! **

  1. Ahhhh, these are so cute! I wonder if my mom wouldn’t mind me putting them on the Sedar plate for tonight’s dinner. Purely for decorative purposes of course (I don’t think I’d enjoy eating spray paint).
    Happy Holidays!
    xx

    1. Hahah! I love that & am totally adding that to the post (the sedar part!). I am going to Passover today so I think i will bring them too :) xoxo

Oh yes, and PLEASE don’t eat the spray paint ones!!!
