Art, Adulting, & a Peek at Our Bedroom

OKAY. So you guys know, about 6 months ago I made the big move-in-with-the-BF deal.

To be completely honest with you, the whole thing gave me severe anxiety leading up to it. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to live with Zack, but because it’s a huge change. Learning to turn my solo living situation (which BTW, I loved & think everyone needs to do it once in their lives!!) into a combined situations is scary AF.

The adjustment period is real, & it will most likely involve some bickering while figuring out each others patterns & idiosyncrasies. Once you do get into the swing of things and master the art of compromise, it’s a total breeze & so so fun! I always have a grocery shopping partner (hate the grocery store), we cook yummy dinners (& by we, I mean Zack), & I have really enjoyed the challenge of merging our design styles.

I am no interior decorator, but we definitely knew the vibe we were going for: black & white, clean, cozy, minimal, & lot’s of open space (no clutter!!!). Our living room is my personal favorite because we have the art wall which is very much a me project & across from it is the skateboard wall which is all Zack. I love the contrast, & how it so clearly represents us!

The only part of our house we kind of neglected, up until now, was the bedroom. We knew we wanted art above our bed, but for some reason or another we’ve been putting it off. SO, for our 4 year anniversary & to pat ourselves on the back for making it to 6 months of living together w/o any heads rolling- we decided it was time to spruce up the bedroom.

When I was working on the art wall project a couple months back, I found Kim Legler’s work & loved everything (she also did the lion & the fashion print in this post!), so I knew I wanted her to help us bring this new idea to life. We wanted two moons, we knew that, but we kind just trusted her do her creative thing.

She totally nailed it & we really couldn’t have asked for anything better (thanks x 100 Kim!).

As for the framing, we are allll about Framebridge over here.

I kind of do anything to avoid running errands, & framing art is def. one of those errands I’d prefer to not deal with. Call me lazy, but time is money & who has time to talk about what color matte looks good with what color frame. Which is exactly why Framebridge is my jam.

They make the whole art/framing process a total breeze… & I am all for any company whose goal is to make life easier for people. They literally ship you everything you need to pack your art, posting slips paid for, & all you have to do is drop it off at the post office.

Hope you guys enjoy this lil’ peek inside our bedroom & be sure to take a peek at Framebridge. Right now you guys can get 15% off your total order with the promo code FASHIONLUSH15. I personally am LOVING their cute Instagram mini prints, I just ordered a few to hang in my office!

p.s. reading this post over again & just wanted to mention all of the ADULTING going on. Art, cohabitation, decor, cooking, compromise— man oh man, kinda feeling old… but I dig it?!

» being the bossy OCD perfectionist, as per usual. Definitely one of my many idiosyncrasies that Zack def. had to get used to. Poor guy. «

Side note:: we are obsessed with GoPro Staff Favorites YouTube channel, so to ensure we really showed us in our element, we were watching this amazing video when this picture was taken. Quite possibly my favorite video of all time, def. shed a tear.

WEARING | HIM & HER:

Her: graphic t-shirt (sold out- similar) | TopShop Jamie jeans | fur lined loafers

Him: H&M polka dot button up (ladies: these slim fit shirts look SO good on guys. On your next trip to H&M pick one up for the guy) | Zack loves a slim fit pant & has a few pairs of these jeans, also from H&M. He really likes shopping at H&M.

** This post was in collaboration with Framebridge, as always, all opinions are my own. **

  1. Those light fixtures by your bed are incredible. Your room looks seriously amazing. Very Scandinavian and minimal. I am in a similar boat – about to make the exciting/dreaded (eek) merge with mine whenever we find the perfect place -w e are on the hunt! And like you, I am OBSESSED with living alone, not to mention I am IMPOSSIBLE to live with soooo it should be interesting. It’s so neat that you and Zack have such a similar aesthetic & I love how you combined the his/hers with the same colour scheme. That top fish-eye view (??) photo is so sick! Congrats on the 4 years AND the 6 months! Def checking out those cutie Insta minis now x

    1. Thanks girl!! Zack made those fixtures :)

Moving in is fun, but make sure you LOVE the place you are living in. Makes things a whole lot easier/more exciting!!! xo

  2. I definitely definitely had to get used to living with my boyfriend Justin. It’s THE SHIT now, but at first it was hard to be around someone all the time, like you have to watch your mood and reaction to stuff, and just be completely AWARE of your energy all day.

But – legit boys are the best roommates, ever.

So nice of you to include him in decorating hehe
    xoxo
