Second to brows, lipstick is the most important part of my getting ready routine. I am not that good at the whole makeup thing & spend a lot of time trying to improve my skills on YouTube, but generally I keep things pretty simple:: mascara, brows, bronzer, highlighter, & of course- A GOOD LIP.
I am allll about a good lip!! I actually get kinda crazy when it comes to my lips. I exfoliate them w/ this scrub, prime them (using this lip primer), carefully apply lip liner, & typically finish things off with either a matte liquid lip or a lipstick/gloss combo.
Today I am sharing with you guys my personal fave liquid lips & glosses, which I think work really well for all skin tones! If you guys have any liquid lips I need to try, please let me know! I am always looking to expand my lip collection, although I am pretty sure I am gonna need a seperate caboodle just for my lip stuff soon.

1. NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment:
I first found this gem on a total whim a couple weeks ago when driving up to L.A with my sister. Half way through the trip I had to pee, so we decided to pull off at the ULTA exit to make the pee pit stop a little more fun w/ some shopping. I love all things NYX, so I was excited to see they had a new liquid lip I hadn’t yet tried, Liquid Lingerie. Immediately this color, Embellishment, caught my eye. It’s the coolest smoky lavender shade & it was (of course) sold out. I tracked down an employee to see if they had any back stocked and she told me that color flies off the shelf & is super hard to get.
Naturally, this made me want it even more. When I got back to San Diego I tried to find it online, but it was seriously sold out everywhere, so I started searching if it was in stock at any drugstores/Target’s near me. I finally found it at some random CVS & I made the trek out there. There was literally 3 left. I bought them all, because I am a hoarder (#truelife).
I also really love the texture of this lip cream, how easy it goes on, & it’s insane staying power!
I love love love my NYX lip creams. They are matte, but they are lighter than your typical matte lip. It doesn’t have that intense sticking power like most liquid matte lips, but it’s a nice alternative for a day time lip & to put on over your favorite lipstick! Cannes is a great shade of medium brown, not too dark but not too nude.
Back at it again with the NYX lip creams (I swear, I have like 30 of these). Athens is more of a medium nude & probably my most worn color of them all. I think this is the perfect nude for any/all skin tones!
4. Kylie Jenner “So Cute” Lip Gloss:
I drank the kool-aid! Actually, I’ve been trying really hard to drink the kool-aid ever since King Kylie made her first lip kit. I still haven’t managed to get a coveted lip kit yet cause I’ve never been home for the 5 minutes it takes for her restock & sell out. When she announced her lipgloss line (w/ a super weird music video that I still don’t get, but watched every minute of & also liked? CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THAT BOOTY?! Implants? Butt pads? Au Naturale? IDGI?) I was actually on my way out the door with a friend & literally made her wait for me to stock up. I felt like I had won the lottery when I made it through the check out process w/o a site crash or it selling out.
I got the ‘So Cute‘ shade, which is a nice light pink, & literally checked the mail like a kid on Christmas everyday. When it arrived, I was pretty pleased. I am more of a matte lip girl, but the shine is pretty on point. Not too much, not too little. I will say the applicator was a little long, but Kylie addressed this on Snapchat saying the next round it will be shorter (I trimmed mine). I also would wear this one mostly over a nude lip to lessen the pink just a tad.
5. Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lips in Kapow:
I first heard about Colour Pop when (back to Kylie) everyone said her first lip kit knocked off their formula. This wasn’t true, but I think it did wonders for business over at Colour Pop. Being that I can’t get a lip kit for the life of me, I loaded up on a handful of Colour Pop matte lips. I can’t tell you how it compares to the lip kit, obviously, but I personally love it nonetheless. The price is right, they are perfectly creamy/pigmented, & they have a slew of amazing colors.
I personally LOVE the Kapow shade- it’s a dark rich brown & is my go-to color for a night out.

I agree with all of these recs! The only one I havent tried is the kylie lipgloss, but like you I dont like to wear gloss, it’s too sticky! Is the kylie one super sticky? You should try the OFRA liquid lipsticks. Its my favorite formula that I have tried. They are definitely more pricey but worth it. They smell good too, which doesn’t really matter to me but it is an added bonus. I like americano a lot! Super pretty brown color.
Looking up OFRA now! The Kylie is a little sticky, but I don’t mind it. I like it actually cause it’s not super shiny :)

NYX lip cremes are bombbbb! I am a huge fan of Transylvania – it’s a sexy vampy shade – the colour is dark-almost black burgundy – I’m obsessed. I am also beyond jealous you were able to snap up some Kylies with no problem – I’m dying for So Cute (LUCKY – def want to see it on!!) and Heir. Also, have you read any of the theories on 3 Strikes, the song that she featured on the video actually being her? I spent way too much time yesterday reading about them… and I secretly am hoping they are true! You are right though – she looks incredible and I love what she is doing. She is just so apologetically HER and I love it! x S

omg I’m dying to know what you think! Pretty much, a lot of theories is that Terror Jr (her nickname is Terror and JR = JenneR) is her music alias and possibly career. All anyone knows is her name is “Lisa” & they are revealing themselves with the second song. It’s so fascinating to me and I can’t stop reading about it lol but I am so Team Kylie it’s not even funny!

If you like the Colour Pop Liquid Lips you will LOVE Ofra Cosmetics liquid lips!! Try “Mocha” and thank me later!!! It seems like your kind of shade – kind of a cinnamon brown spice color. Really great staying power and my favorite part- not drying in the least bit!! I love that Colour Pop is so affordable, but I do find them to be very drying (could just be my lips?) There are also a million coupon codes out there for Ofra, just checkout their instagram and you’re bound to find one!! Hope you love as much as me, these are seriously amazing and worth the affordable price!
