When I say I don’t want anything for my birthday… I swear to you guys, I mean it. I am in a place in my life right now where all I want is to SIMPLIFY everything & really need nothing.
Problem is- people never believe anyone who says they don’t want anything. When someone asks you what you want, it’s rude to pull out a scroll & start listing things off, so the default is “I don’t want your presents, just your presence”… & 99% of the time we all know that’s bullshit. BUT there is that 1% of people who actually mean it (me).
SO this year, I came up with something a little different. I told one friend one thing I really wanted & slyly/nicely suggested everyone contribute to the one gift. I didn’t do this to come off as a diva with one crazy gift, I was actually just trying to be practical. Everyone was asking me what I wanted, so I figured this would be the best way to go about it. Not even asking to get the full gift, but just contribute in the form of a gift card so I can put it towards the gift. Makes sense, right?
Now, about this here birthday list, well… I just thought it’d be fun to make in all honesty. The one item I asked for my friends to contribute to is on the list, but the rest are just fun things I am liking lately. I am not actually asking anyone for them, it’s much more of a general wishlist w/ things I am drooling over.
Maybe they will be gifts to myself in the future, but for now… just a little gift guide for you guys to find new things you may want to add to your birthday list OR to give you inspo for a friends birthday. I don’t know one girl who wouldn’t love a neon desk flamingo, DIY lightbox (so cool!), or a super soft vintage inspired tee.
DISCLAIMER: I am actually writing this post on a Saturday (you’re reading this on a Monday) because tomorrow (Sunday) is my big birthday brunch & I am hoping to avoid the computer as much as possible so wanted to get this pre-written. My actual birthday though is Wednesday, in case you were curious :).
UPDATE: it’s now Sunday night, post bday brunch, & let’s just say… my friends & family killed it (Birthday recap coming soon). I got some great presents & my friends all came together to get me… THE BALENCIAGA BOOTS. I can’t even deal. I am blessed to the max!!! Couldn’t have asked for a better day or a better group of people.
