This & That | Not Amused

» so in love w/ my new pillows! «

Lately, there has been something realllllly weighing on my brain in a big big way, & quite frankly… I’m pissed AF.

I’ve actually touched on this annoyance in the past, but due to a recent Google search, I felt like I needed to bring it up again.

A couple days ago I was searching for a post I saw a while back on one of my favorite blogs (no names will be used in this post) to find a dress I really wanted, & on the second page of Google, up popped GOMI.

GOMI, aka Get Off My Internets, is basically a forum for people to decide if bloggers should SOMI (stay) or GOMI (go). I will not even link to it, because it’s such a joke that I do NOT want you guys to give it any pageviews. Obviously, that probably makes you want to look at more, but I’m not gonna be a vessel for the negativity.

Which yes, that is semi-hypocritical of me as I clicked on that Google search, but I just wanted to see what people could possibly say badly about this very pretty/succesful/uber stylish/seemingly down-to-earth blogger babe. It was disgusting, to say the least.

Not only did they bash everything about her blog, but they also got super personal talking about past relationships & family members. I mean, seriously? It’s sad on so many levels. Sad for the people who have the time to talk this way about people they don’t know & sad for the bloggers who may accidentally come across a thread based around themselves.

It’s internet bullying at it’s finest, & it really needs to get off OUR internet.

If any of my fellow bloggers out there have been on this site, I am so so sorry you have been subjected to the cruelty of these lonely individuals who can only let out their jealousy & insecurities when hiding behind a computer screen. On the bright side, you’re making waves, & as they say “any press is good press”.

Haters gonna hate, but winners gonna win either way. Ya feel? GOMI, all I gotta say to you is “BYEEEE FELICIA”.

On a brighter note, here are a few #regram highlights from my weekend…

  1. Erica – I could seriously hug you for posting this! A few months ago, I saw a referral link to my site from GOMI (which I didn’t know what it was) & it was horrible. There were two comments about my blog; one of which was talking about super personal things like people bashing my spending habits/questioning how much I make & how I’ll save up for a house one day, saying my weight loss isn’t real (it is!), how I don’t eat healthy & so much more. It was heart-breaking to read that because I’m such a personal person & am just trying to open up a bit by having a blog. I had no idea someone could judge you that much & even have time to write paragraphs about someone you’ve never met. When I was looking into GOMI that day, I came across your first post & it struck a nerve – the same way today’s post did. I’m so glad you’re sharing the frustration from a blogger’s perspective because people don’t think like that. It helps other bloggers (like me!) to keep going & not worry about the negativity. Keep up the blogger empowerment; I promise it helps others feel stronger!

    1. I am so so so sorry 100x over that anyone ever put you on that site! No one deserves that. Keep your head up girl, you’re killing it! xoxoxo

  2. I have seen GOMI before and I DEFINITELY won’t go back – it is truly sad that people band together to slate others in such a way.
I always keep in mind that anything negative that someone puts out in world is a reflection on them, not you. Never let anyone else bring you down!

Love that you keep FashionLush a positive place!

    1. Thanks babe :)! I agree completely- it’s peoples own insecurities coming through the computer screen.

  3. Ugh. These forums are the worst. I remember when “juicy campus” was a thing (this is dating me), and I remember when I eventually got brought up on it – it stung, and I never checked it again . I don’t understand why people would want to spread so much negativity on others, especially to strangers. Constructive criticism is one thing (and should be done in private IMHO), but hating just to spread hate is never right. I echo the above by thanking you for keeping FashionLush a positive place. Someone should create the opposite of GOMI (I suppose SOMI?), and create a positive forum on what blogs to check out, who is killing it, collab opps, and what great things that blogger is doing. Keep the good vibes going – which you do a damn good job at!

    1. Thank you babe! Totally not dating your self, I remember Juicy Campus & The Dirty. The Dirty ripped me a new one very very bad back in highschool, & when you are younger it stings a thousand times worse! This is like an adult version of that, for bloggers & I hate it! I agree, we need a positive forum!!!

  4. Wow I had no idea about this! I’m not going to look now — but I seriously appreciate you taking a stand and saying something against it. This sort of stuff is terrible and brings out such a bad side in people.

On a Bridghter note – loving the shades and saw straight out of compton! So good lol
