My Spring Skincare Refresh & Reset Routine

Okay, so today is all about beauty & skincare, which is always fun since good skin is pretty much the most important thing a girl can have, yes? YES, so today I’m sharing how to give your face a nice little Spring skincare refresh.

Fall/Winter is all about more drama when it comes to your makeup- a dark lip, heavy contour, highlighters, shadows, etc. Spring on the other hand is all about a more natural look. Dewy skin, light on the foundation, a good lash, splash of bronzer, & lighter lips.

SO, to get your skin ready for that whole natural/less makeup vibe, you’ve got to do some skincare prep. Basically, hit the reset button on your skin & give it some major TLC. Clear out your pores, go makeup-less, & get back to basics.

Since Spring has arrived, I was already past due for my Spring skincare refresh sesh. I dragged Zack to Target the past Friday night telling him we needed to get ingredients for oven S’Mores (bribery), when in all honesty, I wanted to grab some of my tried & true beauty products and have a girly night of skincare. We did still have our oven S’Mores, & I got lucky cause Zack let me practice my facial skills on him. SUCCESFUL Friday!

How-To Get Your Skin Spring Ready + my go-to products!

» Okay, so first I take of all my makeup using Simple Micellar Wipes. I have been hearing all about Micellar water & how the French swear by it, so I had to give these a try & I am hooked!! It contains micelles, which are these nifty cleansing bubbles, & it unclogs pores while hydrating your skin to give it that plump appearance everyone wants.

» Next I wash my face with warm water + a gentle gentle cleanser. Total throwback, but I still swear by Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser. It’s such a skincare treat & really cleans out your skin. Instantly after using it your skin will look so glowing & squeaky clean.

» Lastly, I will exfoliate with St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub. This one is also a TB to junior high, but I have continued to use it all these years, so it must be good. I only exfoliate once a week to help get rid of dead skin & extract blackheads.

Minus the exfoliant, I will repeat this process for three-four days while keeping my face relatively makeup free, & my skin is so grateful afterwards (you can tell big time!).

ALSO, major bonus, when you purchase these three tried & true products at your local Target, you get a tube of Rimmel’s new Retro Glam Mascara. Since your Spring makeup vibe will consist of lighter looks, I am all about a long lash & this mascara is a total dupe for the more pricey department store versions. The brush is shaped differently from any brush I’ve seen before, so it actually contours your lashes & makes your lashes so long w/o any clumps (not down with eyelash clumps).

Lastly, since I am an avid coupon clipper (no shame), you can also text SPRING to TARGET (827438) to get up to $40 in beauty savings.

  1. Really?! I have used it for years & never had any issues- it actually help keeps my skin clear BUT I only use it once a week/every two weeks!

  2. I did do some research on it & it’s actually micro beads that are bad for the environment- micro beads are synthetic & St.Ives uses all natural exfoliating ingredients!

  3. I also just started using the Simple Micellar Wipes and I really like them. I’ve been using St. Ives on and off for years, usually never more than twice a week and it’s a great quick exfoliation for when skin looks dull, but I find nothing really compares to a great facial every 3-4 months! xo, Nikki

  4. My boyfriend uses that same exact scrub and he has seriously perfect skin. I wish it worked that well for me (I use the Suki one which I LOVE) because you can’t beat that price!

Micellar is the ishhhhhh I am OBSESSED with it ever since I went to London in 2014 – I love that it is so easy to find here in the states now. Anything that I can do from bed aka not a trip to the sink is a MAJOR win! I will def check out that contouring mascara – I’m intrigued! xx
