Summer Beauty DIY: Moisturizing Rose Serum

fashionlush, diy, beautyfashionlush, diy, beauty

Is it just me or does the summer wreck havoc on anyone else’s skin? My biggest complaint is that my skin gets super dry this time of year (eff you, Santa Ana winds!) & the dryness makes my skin look… lackluster.

I hate lackluster.

I have hoarded so many beauty products over the years, but not one of them was of any help. Then, I stumbled across a bottle of unopened Vegetable Glycerin (so random!) & thought… this could work. Glycerin, after all, is the main ingredient in any and all moisturizing products. Makes sense, right?

I started to read up on the subject & I was blown away by all the people who swore by the stuff as if it were the holy grail of skincare products, or maybe even the fountain of youth. My ears were perked. I wanted to try it for myself.

With just a few ingredients that I already had lying around, I whipped up this amazing skin serum… which I will now refer to as my secret beauty potion. Within 5 minutes my skin literally started to plump up… like it was drinking in the moisture, it was magical! I still need to give it a few days, but this stuff has total holy grail potential.

Read on to see how to make it, super easy, super quick, super effective. You’ll love!

::Just a few benefits of using Glycerin on your skin::

+ Glycerin has been known to lighten the skin, which is a huge help when looking to fade any acne scars or skin color irregularities (i.e. dark spots).

+ Glycerin has cleansing agents that help get rid of excess dirt, oil, & other skin impurities.

+ Glycerin, as mentioned above, is key in keeping your skin moisturized. Glycerin attracts water into the skin & also helps oxygenate the cells of your skin. Oxygenating your skin cells helps to increase blood flow, which in turn gives you that sexy, non-greasy, summer glow (my fave!!).

+ Glycerin also is used in tons of anti-aging products as it can actually fill in wrinkles & plump them up with moisture.

+ Last, but certainly not least, Glycerine can also help smooth out any unwanted dry spots/patches (i.e. rough elbows!).

++ feel free to use any essential oil or combination of essential oils as you’d like. I personally prefer lavender as it helps reduce my stress levels & smells amazing. ++

::Other tips & tricks::

+ put it in a spray bottle for a facial spritz (DIY Evian?!).

+ If you go the spray bottle route, you can also leave this in your fridge & use it to help you cool down on a hot summer day.

+ If your hair is feeling dry & crispy, rub/spray some of this potion through your tresses when you get out of the shower.

  1. years ago I was a West Coast sales rep in my industry traveling weekly from Houston, Texas to 8 states west. That’s high humidity to dry as a bone air with yucky airplane air in between! A friend in the skin business here at home told me about glycerin then. It SAVED my face, neck and hands. I am so glad you’ve reminded me of it again!
