This & That | The Prince of Puppies

Man oh man, do I have a story for you guys.

Rewind to last Thursday, I was on my way (running late, as always), to my hair appointment. I was at a stoplight when I looked to my right & saw a homeless man tightly squeezing a 3 pound puppy. He saw I was staring & he raised the puppy up, basically saying “you wan’t to save this poor puppy? Come & get her”.

Yes, yes I absolutely want to save the puppy. WHO WOULDN’T?!

I drove the block more to my hair appointment & texted my hair guru/friend, Lisandra, to come outside. I needed a wingman on my puppy rescue mission.

Mind you, I am very weary about asking homeless people if I can buy there pets. Let’s just say… this wasn’t the first time I tried this & in the past, it didn’t go quite as well (I got yelled at, big time.). I know some homeless people truly love their pets & take care of them before themselves… so I have learned to proceed w/ extreme caution.

When we got to the guy w/ the tiny puppy, I asked him if he was trying to find the pup a home. He said no, so I backed off & offered to buy him dog food… & then someone else walked around the corner with the same goal as us. She was the coolest chick ever & straight to the point, how much you want to make this puppy not yours.

Then, it got weird. He would not sell us the dog on the street & insisted he either come to our house or we buy him a hotel room. We told him he was fucking nuts to even think we would do that, surprisingly… he understood & offered we go in a business. We couldn’t find one, so the last suggestion he had was to get a cop to come approve he sell us the puppy.

Lisandra, at this point, went back to her salon to grab her phone so she could call a non emergency cop. As you can see, we were in deep. In the meantime, the feisty girl & I were trying to give the puppy water and he refused we do that. He was squeezing her so tight she was yelping. I was in physical pain for this puppy.

While Lisandra was walking back, she found a parking cop & told her what was going on. Parking cop lady (coolest lady ever) raced over. She told him it was fine to sell us the puppy, but he still wasn’t having it. He said he would only do it through the parking cop, so we give the parking cop money & she gives it to him, then he gives her the dog & she gives it to us.

I KID YOU NOT… this all went down.

Next thing I know, I’ve got a puppy on my hands. Luckily, the receptionist at the hair salon fell in love with her & asked if she could have her. WHEW, I loved the little girl & did so much to save her, but one puppy (Ruby), is more than enough for me.

Now, you’d think that’s a happy ending & we all move on w/ our merry lives… but no… it get’s weirder.

The following day Lisandra told her client about what had happened & the client said, “OH- the Prince of Puppies got you!”. What the actual fuck. He told us his name is Bernard Samuel Sephus Junior, but forgot to mention is more commonly known as the Prince of Puppies. Why? Because this idiot (sorry), takes puppies from TJ & brings them back to the states for people to rescue from him.

AWFUL, right? Even worse, he steals puppies outside of establishments in my neighborhood & sells them in Mexico as well… because that’s when their trackers stop working. WOW.

He is known from LA to Mexico, has been arrested 20 times, & is not allowed on the Sunset strip (hence why he is in San Diego). He has what looks like a fake book on Amazon (so confused), & people have shared horror stories on forums all over the internet.

Real class act.

I knew that homeless people do that, but I was just too oblivious to what was happening as all I could think about was getting that puppy out of his grip. SO, moral of the story, call the cops if you suspect this happening & if you live in San Diego- PLEASE CALL THE COPS if you ever see this prick with a puppy.

OKAY- that story was way longer than I expected or wanted, but I am glad I got all that off my chest. On the brighter side, the puppy is now named Diamond & she is happy, healthy, & SO loved by her new parents!!

  1. Ahhh I am so happy you rescued that poor puppy, and that man sounds like the worst. Such a shame that someone would stoop to that level of awfulness. Hopefully he is stopped soon!

  2. Being an animal lover I would have done the same thing. I really hope the police catch this a$$hole and this stops. From what I read further about this disgusting human is that he is being reported as a scammer and an animal abuser. My heart aches for these poor puppies :(

  3. This is Emily Thode with 10News. I want to do a story on this guy. Can you please call me ASAP at 619-455-2791. Thanks!

  4. I love that you rescued that puppy, even with how SHADY he was. I hope the cops catch him and that the people who lost their pets find them :(
