This & That | Mother’s Day Food Tour, Escape Rooms, & Ice Cream

» morning read (great book so far!), the best avo toast ever, & a honey lavender latte at Communal Coffee! Loving this place. «

Hey hey! How you guys doing this Monday morning? Personally, I’m a little tired… most likely still in a food coma from Mother’s Day. If there is one thing my family likes it’s good food, & we def. indulged yesterday.

First stop of the day, oysters & lobster rolls at Ironside. If you are ever in San Diego, bookmark this page & GO TO Ironside. I’m addicted to oysters, so that’s a must, but the real WOW is the lobster roll. They make this bomb Hawaiian bread in house & use that as the roll- it’s absolutely next level.

Next, I took the fam to this amazing new coffee shop that opened up in our neighborhood, another recommendation of mine, Communal Coffee. It’s the chicest most adorable coffee shop & within it there is the Native Poppy stem bar. Seriously, so genius! While you’re waiting for your drink & avo toast (add on an egg + prosciutto) you can pick out some wildflower stems & have them whip it up into the cutest arrangement. I am thinking this will be my new work spot a few times a week. It’s just so charming & cozy.

After we tried their orange creamsicle & honey lavender latte, both insane, we made our way to the big surprise of the day. We surprised the whole group by taking them an Escape Room. Have you guys heard of this? It’s all the rage in Tokyo, & just starting to make it’s way into the U.S. I am a total nerd & love this kinda stuff, so I was beyond excited. They basically locked all of us in a room, & you have to find your way out by finding some effing hard clues. I know, totally dorky, but super fun! Everyone loved it.

Lastly, we winded down the day & celebrated our escape w/ ice cream flights at Hammond Gourmet Ice Cream. Another must eat in San Diego- they have flavors like rose vanilla, ginger cream, lychee, & lavender & it comes in the cutest mini flight of 6 flavors. Best ice cream ever.

Okay, so what did YOU guys do for Mom? I’d love to hear how you celebrated?! Also, hope you like the mini lil’ eat your way through SD guide. I could literally talk food recommendations all dayyyyy long.

  2. YES! I did an escape room when I lived in Seoul and it was so much fun, like one of my favorite things I have ever done. Super stressful though haha. That is so cool that you did that with your mom for mothers day, what a great idea.

  3. Always love your pictures boo. So gorgeous!

I did an escape room recently with friends, and I feel like I’m too stupid/lazy for it LOL _ Like I don’t like puzzles and shit. So I seriously just chilled.

ANYWAY. Need to go to that flower bouquet spot. GORGEOUS.

    xoxo
