This & That | Meet the Newest Addition to the Fam

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you may already know this… but for those of you who don’t, something pretty major happened this past weekend…

WE GOT A PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, we are now the proud parents of the cutest 10 week old all black Frenchie.

This was definitely an unplanned puppy, but we are thrilled (and v. sleepy). Swear, it’s like a newborn!!!

So, here’s how it all went down…

Zack went to his friends the other week who breeds Frenchie’s & when he got home, he was raving about how cute they were & I immediately wanted to schedule a date to go play with them, but that was it. Getting one wasn’t even a thought in my head.

We have been talking about getting a dog for a hot minute now, but we specifically wanted to rescue so we could give a dog in need a loving home. We rescued a dog before, the sweetest German Shepherd, but unfortunately Bitzy & her didn’t hit it off too well & the dog bit Bitzy (luckily she was okay… by a hair). It wasn’t the German Shepherds fault, but we still had to find her a new home. This time around, we knew we needed a puppy.

Plus, I never thought we’d get a Frenchie. No particular reason (they are so damn cute), but we were pretty set on a Corgi.

Fast forward a few days later & Zack gets a text message from said Frenchie friend. He says that out of there latest litter, one little baby had two bum knees & they had to find her a good home. She couldn’t be sold because of the flaw & also couldn’t be bred (whew!).

They wanted to see if we wanted her.

UM, yes!!! She may not be a rescue, but being that Bitzy suffers from the same knee issue, we knew we could take on the challenge & give her all the care she need (we are already planning water therapy & acupuncture!). Right now, she is just fine, but this is definitely a serious issue that could progress, but we are 100% prepared for what the future may hold for our new wee one & will do everything in our power to keep her healthy & mobile.

Right now little girl is nameless, but we are tossing around a few ideas. If you guys can think of anything that seems fitting- please share!!!

Also, any puppy tips are GREATLY (x 1000) appreciated. It’s been 11 years since I had a puppy, & I totally forgot what hard work it is!!! There is so much pee, poop, & vomit… and the worst part of all- Bitzy is not quite adjusting just yet. Lots of growling & teeth showing around here these days. I know she is just establishing her role in the pack & the puppy takes it well, but I have horrible mother’s guilt for my first born. Will they ever get along?! Is this hurting Bitz emotionally? Is she mad at me? Ugh- if you guys have any experience in this, please share your thoughts!!!

All of that said- the puppy breath & all the cute shit she does every second makes it all worth it! She is the biggest snuggler & a smart girl too- already peeing on the pee pads & learned how to play fetch. Doggy prodigy, swear.

Now… for some other weekend highlights (although not much tops a puppy)! Happy Monday babes. x

» Back in 2014, I did a post on my obsession with oil pulling & it was my most popular post to date. My site crashed multiple times because that post brought in so much damn traffic!! It was a real hit, but it’s been a while since I talked about OP-ing, so the burning question is: do I still oil pull after all this time?!

Answer- yes!!!! I stopped for a while do to convenience- spooning the coconut oil out of jar morning was a pain in my tired ass. But now I am back, & better than ever w/ the help of Kismet’s Coco Rinse packets. I forgot how amazing the whole process was & what it does for me (more on that here). Read about & do your research, but when you’re ready to give it a try- you have got to get these chic gold Coco Rinse packets.

They are minty fresh & so smooth, plus you can’t beat how easy they make the whole thing. AND they are super travel friendly. If you aren’t sure but kinda interested- you can use the coupon code FASHIONLUSH for 15% off your total order. Trust me, you will love it! «

  1. UGH- I hope they warm up to each other. I am nervous they will never get along.

The coconut oil pulling kit is my favorite!! You will love it.

  2. I am about to go pick up my new Maltipoo puppy. Any advice??? I haven’t had a puppy in years, so I’m excited and nervous. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Your one of my favorite bloggers.. pretty positive we would be become instant besties if we could ever hang out! Little far away from you though. Anyways… puppy tips?? Thanks so much

    1. Ahh!! It’s a HUGE adjustment!!! You’re so sweet- thank you for reading the blog!

As for puppy tips! Where to start.

Get her a crate ASAP & never use it for punishment. Make sure it’s filled with snuggly blankets & toys.

Also, puppy pads! Start on them ASAP. If she doesn’t have all of her shots yet, she won’t be able to go outside yet so you have to get her trained on the pads first.

Socialization! Have a play date with a dog who has all of their shots! They need to socialize big time! Some pet stores have puppy playdates too- or puppy classes!

other than that- lots of love & snuggles to make her feel safe :) xoxox
