OKAYYYY guys, This & That is getting a little update.

Short backstory: I am obsessed with the Ladygang Podcast. A friend of mine recommended it & I can’t stop listening. Jac Vanek, Keltie Knight, & Becca Tobin are the most hilarious combo & they actually make me want to get in the car and drive around aimlessly– which is saying a lot since I really do NOT like driving.

Anyways, they start the episode with a “Good Week / Bad Week” segment where they go around the table and talk about what was good in their week & what was bad. It’s the best & most hilarious part of the show. The Kardashian’s actually do this as well before dinner (if you watch KUWTK you know all about “Pits & Peaks”) & I always thought it was a good way to start a family dinner.

I also think it’s a good way to start my This & That Monday blog post series. What better way to kick off a new week than to reflect on the good & laugh at the bad.

For now we will be calling it HIGH / LOW, but I want something more witty so if you have any ideas- comment & LMK. x, E

OK, HERE GOES NOTHING….

The Low: Thursday I was invited to a blogger brunch to celebrate the launch of Sincerely Jules x Lionette collab. It was in Malibu, which is about a 2.5 hour drive, but since I am trying to be more of a yes man, I decided to make the trek all the way out to “The Bu”.

Zack warned me about traffic in the AM, but I was up pretty early so the ride was EASY PEASY. I had my podcast, I was laughing, traffic wasn’t horrible, & I was there perfectly on time. So far, so good.

After the event I started to head home, but first I had to find somewhere to pee & post an Instagram. By the time I found a semi-decent bathroom & sat in my parked car for 20+ minutes to get up my Instagram up (don’t judge), it was prime traffic time & I was in for a real nightmare. I don’t drive to LA often, so I forgot how bad it could get. Why people live there & how they stay sane with that gridlock is beyond me.

I was legitimately plucking my brows for 30 minutes & probably could have managed painting my toes… it was THAT BAD.

I was pretty stressed at this point because my cousin was coming into town & taking an Uber to my house. I knew I was gonna be late to greet her, which is when my gas light went on. AWESOME. I got the gas & then sat in traffic for 4 hours. I was annoyed, but I had my podcast and a huge sparkling water, so I was keeping it cool.

Next hurdle, I had to pick up the dog at my Mom’s house. Of course- no one is home, I don’t have a key, the dog is barking, & no one is answering their phones. My cousin has now consumed a bottle of wine solo at my house & all I wanted was to banana bag the wine into my bloodstream after this hellish day.

I was jumping balconies in my fancy romper trying to break into my Mother’s house, all while having to pee so bad (that huge ass sparkling water). After 45 minutes of trying to find a way in, one of which involved trying to fit through the doggy door (didn’t work, don’t want to talk about it), I decided to just go home and get her the next day.

When I was getting on the freeway, naturally, my sister called and told me where the hide-a-key was. Seriously, this is my life at this moment. I am so tired, considering peeing in the sparkling water bottle, my clip-in extensions are falling out of my hair, & I’ve never been more exhausted. My mom lives 45 minutes away & that would make the next day super annoying, so… I turned around.

Got the dog, got home, fell asleep in three seconds, & the best part of all… we ended up going to my Mom’s the next morning.

But hey, atleast I got plenty of girl time with my podcast.

The High:

The Sincerely Jules x Lionette event! Yes, the ride was an angry bitch, but the event itself made it all worth it.

It was hosted at the Malibu Cafe at Calamigos Ranch & the setting was beautiful. There was rosé on tap (always a bonus), truffle mac & cheese bites, and of course- some super rad jewelry!!

The best part though was meeting the hosts. Noa from Lyonette was one of the coolest and most talented girls I have ever met & Julie really is so incredibly sincere. I really really respect Julie as she sets an awesome example for the women in our industry. Bloggers can be catty & Julie, even with 3.5 million+ followers, is one of the most humble people I’ve met in a long time. She talked to everyone who came & was super grateful for the turnout, which was just super refreshing & inspiring to me.

Oh, & also- my cousin is in town and she’s the best. Also, when family is in town all rules go out the window, and we pretty much ate our way through San Diego. Peanut butter french toast, Gnocchi, dessert with every meal, & huge bowls of ramen… my trainer is gonna killlll me.

» UM- have you guys heard of Daiso? It’s the most amazing Japanese everything store. One just opened up by my mom, so we took a family outing to stock up on a bunch of weird shit we don’t need… like a super cute hard boiled egg timer & smiley face sponges. «

  1. Ugh! That situation you described totally sounds like me, but I’m so glad you got through it! Also, LOVE Daiso and finding random, quirky things. How does the tumeric latte taste? I’ve tried tumeric tea and it was just too much for me!

    1. The worstttt driving experience ever!! Daiso is seriously the best :).

The turmeric latter was a little… earthy (??) BUT good w/ some cinnamon!!

  2. Hahah! L.A. traffic is enough to drive someone insane. My family used to live in Santa Monica, and I live in Canada. I would actually dread driving down to see them. High: Seeing family. Low: Peeing in a Starbuck Venti cup (NOT JOKING.)

  3. I love love my tarot cards from them TOO! I am still trying to figure out how to use them? Like, I can’t ask the cards shit all the time so…let me know. HA.

Also yes about living in LA. I work from home or I really couldn’t live here and do that drive. It’s super suffocating and it’s a HUGE problem. Podcasts make it alright for me, honestly. I do like Tim Ferris but will check out girl gang!

You looked amaze at the event, extensions and all, ha. Can’t a girl live?

Love this series, too. Keep it coming :)

    1. Tarot cards take some trial & error- I try to do a spread once a week with some general questions! Nothing too specific :).

I am gonna check out Tim Ferris & I don’t know how you survive the LA traffic. I can’t even imagine just going to the grocery store!!

Thanks girl for the kind words, & yes- CAN’T A GIRL LIVE!! haha.

  4. I love these tarot cards! I need to get them.
I just watched your Snapchat, where you took your crystals out in the full moon.. I was actually just researching crystals last night but didn’t find too much information. Do you have any good books or websites that can teach me more about them? I’d love to get some.
