Backpack Diaries | The Everyday Necessities

fashionlush, what's in my backpack, everyday blogger essentials

One of my favorite pastimes is getting a new bag or wallet.

Not because I have a cute new bag or wallet to rock, although that’s clearly a bonus, but more because organizing is my favorite hobby ever.

I’m being dead serious. The perfect Friday night for me would consist of watching either Transparent (best show ever made)/a corny Lifetime movie/Blacklist/Sons of Anarchy with a bottle of wine while organizing my sock drawer (really though, where do those lost-in-the-dryer socks actually go?! Dying to know.) OR color coding my file cabinet. Of course Zack would be there too, begging me to stop being an OCD lunatic and come snuggle. LOL, sorry hun.

Changing the subject though, cause clearly I am not normal & we could really talk about my odd tendencies for days… let’s talk about the bag.

I have taken notice that tan is where it’s at when it comes to Spring bags, so I decided to get with times & find an alternative to my typical black backpack that I have pretty much worn the life out of.

I ended up choosing this rad camel colored backpack from ASOS, which BTW, is the best place to find on trend & wallet-friendly bags & backpacks. Actually, ASOS in general is my no.1 online shopping destination as it’s affordable & always on point.

You may have noticed, another backpack, which is because backpacks are my fave when it comes to an everydayer. They keep me hands free, which is crucial as I need full access to respond to my emails/post on Insta/update the blog/etc. on the reg.

That blog life though…

While making the backpack switch, I decided to snap some pics of what I was transferring over.

Total realness, I didn’t just throw together all my prettiest things & pretend that’s what I carry around on the daily. If that were the case, I probably would have left out the semi-embarrassing selfie stick, but I’m being real, & that thing is amazing. #notsorry.

All the things you find below are my ride or die/can’t live without items that I need on hand 24/7, now perfectly organized in my amazing new camel colored beauty of a bag (seriously dying over this color, need shoes to match STAT!).

So— what’s the MOST important item in your daily bag? LMK… cause chances are I probably need it.

x, E

Alright, let’s do this, here’s what’s in my backpack::

» L’Oreal “Liya’s Nude” Lipstick: It says nude, but it’s actually like a really rad shade of brown, & a current favorite. Throw on this shade + a rad choker & you’ve got the nineties trend on lock (very much reminds me of that movie, The Craft).

» Smiths Minted Rose Lip balm Tube: I have actually kept Smiths rose lip products in my purse since highschool. It smells like rose, is a great lip balm, & also doubles as a gloss over my brown lipstick… for when I am channeling my inner Kylie.

» Seventies inspired Sunnies: I just got these at Urban Outfitters, majorly on sale, & am so into the seventies vibes they put off.

» Pearl midi rings: for the days I leave the house with naked fingers, which is basically everyday.

» Essential Oils: Lavender to sniff when stressed and Clove for tummy aches (add to water/tea), undereye circles (add a drop to your eye cream), & germs.

» Physician’s Formula Nude Wear Touch: according to every beauty blogger, & myself, this stuff is basically YSL Touche Eclat’s twin sister. It’s velvety & perfect for on the go pimple coverage.

» Great Lash Clear Mascara: the keep the brows on fleek (full post on this coming soon!)

» Kai Perfume Oil: Zack lovesss this scent, so I always keep it on hand. It goes on with a roller ball & because it’s an oil, lasts all day.

» L’Oreal Volumnious Mascara in Carbon Black: this came highly recommended to me by a make-up artist in LA, & I’ve been loving it ever since. Seriously, such a great mascara!

» MAC lip pencil in Whirl: thanks to Kylie’s fab pout & rumor that this is the product she uses, this MAC lip pencil is almost as famous as she is.

» SkinFix Hand Repair Cream: more on this amazing line of skincare products + why I don’t leave the house w/o them here.

» My lucky charms: crystals & stones given to me by various people in my life (including a hypnotist and a 4 year old) + a little over-worked worry doll that was given to me by my mom.

»  Although not pictured, I also sometimes keep my rose quartz pendulum in my bag as well. Pendulums are the coolest ever, I use them to help me answer questions that I just can’t find the answers to. You can read more about these amaze energy tools here.

» Business Cards: designed by Blog-Doo.

» External battery, one of many… & obviously, my iPhone (case found here).

» Notepad & Pen: Something I didn’t have in my bag till last week, after I got in a fender bender (slash, totaled my car– I’m okay though!) & had nothing to write on. I got this cute little set from the one & only Target dollar section.

» The selfie stick: aka Zack’s worst nightmare. My mom just got back from Italy & this fabulous invention was my souvenir, it’s cheesy as f*ck, but actually comes in handy quite often.

» Wallet: not pictured because that’s boring & a no brainer.

» Other things not pictured: lady tools (aka organic tampons, which my BFF did a full post on here), tweezers, physical sunscreen, floating bobby pins, a clean pair of sticky socks for the impromptu barre class, Korean olive oil cleansing tissues, & Bitzy’s harness + leash.

  1. I love that bag! So gorgeous. And I’ll definitely be trying that pendulum trick, I’m super indecisive!

  2. I legit cannot live without hand sanny. I try to get the all natural kind when I can instead of the chemical icky ones. I have one in my bag at all times and I leave one in my car just in case. They’re the best for when I go out to work sites, get gas, etc… feeling like I have a million germs on my hands just drives me insane.

  3. I use The Honest Company when I can find it. I also just did a little bit of googling and actually found out that you can get it on Target’s website, they might be in some of their stores too but I haven’t seen it there and I legit go like every week… but then again I could just be oblivious.

I also did some more googling and found an older DIY post from Free People’s blog. I might have to give it a try until I can get some marble contact paper :) — seriously dyingg over all the marble DIY projects (completely obsessed).

    1. Oh yay! Thanks so much girl! I am def. going to look into some DIY options… naturally ;)

  4. Great post! Be careful when communicating with spirits you can invite some negative ones so always ask if the person giving advice is a guardian angel or answering your questions with love! xo C
