Desert Daze

You’d think, being a semi-style blogger & all, that I enjoy being behind the camera… Nope. Not the case. This is like the no.1 blogger “stereotype” that just doesn’t fit me (all the other ones tho, totes). If you do like being behind cameras, I am not judging or saying that’s a bad thing, I actually give you major props– wish some of that would rub off on me.

All that focus on me makes me uber overwhelmed. I like to think I have confidence, but something about a camera in my face just makes me anxious– “Am I standing up straight? Am I standing up too straight? Was this outfit a bad idea? Do I look ghostly pale (always do)? What’s going on with this hair? Should I put it in a pony? Wait, should I smile? Ew, but I hate smiling? Now I look angry? Why do I feel so awk? What the eff, I am done. Let’s hit up that food truck I saw on the way here. But wait, did we get any good pics?”………… Sounds fun, right?? YIKES.

For all you fashion bloggers out there snapping stunning pics left & right like it’s NBD… I bow to you. As for me, I will obviously continue to do it for the sake of style, but atleast now you know how I really feel (& it’s not like Adriana Lima while walking down the runway- that’s for damn sure).

…& now that I am done ranting & rambling, lemme get to the point of my story novel. This past weekend we took a lil’ day trip to the desert for an extra special photo shoot. My girl Jackie has an epic jewelry line (check it out here) & she will soon be incorporating some rad one-of-a-kind vintage gems on the site. She asked me to help model some of the pieces, which as you just read, not my fave thing to do. BUT, I am a sucker for vintage & my bad-ass entrepreneurial friends (plus, I knew I could get in a quick OOTD for le blog in a sick locale). I was all in.

Not to mention, I am always down for weekend adventures… esp. when the bartender at a restaurant in the middle of BFE casually whips me up a fresh ginger/Bulliet/lemon zest concoction that rocked my world. Score. I will keep you all posted on JNB Vintage collection & can’t wait to share all the picks from the shoot. In the meantime, stay updated by following me on Instagram & scope the teaser vid- it’s pretty insane!!!

xx, E

p.s. sorry for the longest post ever- hope you I didn’t bore you to death.
