Matte Black Out

The other week I walked into the nail salon for my weekly touch up (man oh man do fake nails require a lot of upkeep!!) & my nail lady immediately says to me “grey mani again Erica?”. I always always always pick some shade of grey. I love a grey nail, but more than that, I love not having to deal with those crazy ass nail wheels.

I am so incredibly indecisive, so that bucket full of color options immediately gives me anxiety. Opting for grey every time just makes life so much easier. Ya feel me?

This time around though, I decided to throw my nail ladies a curve ball by letting them pick my color… again, avoiding decisions & nail wheels like the plague. OH MAN did they love this. They all (literally, all of them… it was a slow day) gathered around & started discussing what to do. It was SO fun for me & for them. I told them I wanted something edgy, funky, & per usual— dark.

They ended up with the raddest nail idea ever, matte black. I would have never thought of that, so I was pretty stoked on their choice.

The next day, to celebrate my epic new mani, I wanted to rock a look to match. I was feeling something edgy, minimalistic, & (per usual) all black. It’s still pretty warm & muggy here, so although I’d love to get layered up, I had to keep it cool.

I paired a little lacey playsuit with my go-to moto jacket as there is nothing I love more than the juxtaposition of girly & grunge. For this daytime look I kept it casual with some high top Chucks, but later on in the day I swapped them out for some black ankle boots for a more dressed up dinner date vibe.

Oh, & I can’t forget to talk about my epic new wallet from Status Anxiety. Not only is it black cowhide, which is about as chic as it gets, but it’s just the most perfect wallet I’ve ever owned. Finding a wallet that fits all my shit (like those multiple foot long CVS receipts) & still zips closed has been a struggle, but this one holds it all + my iPhone. Score x 100.
