Stay at Home Club

Hey hey my fellow homebodies- this post is for you…. but also, it’s for the social butterflies out there who can’t wrap their head around the idea of ever preferring staying at home over going out.

You’re either gonna really relate & be nodding your head aggressively as you read on, or you’re gonna gain a new found understanding of the introverts in your life.

I’m the self-proclaimed president of the Stay at Home Club, & never once have I seen much of a problem with it. It’s not because I am anti-social, rude, or have bad social skills (well…. maybe just a touch of social anxiety. Crowds are the worst!!!), it’s simply because my home is my sanctuary.

I am most comfortable, happy, productive, zen, & creative when at home.

The extroverts of the world thrive on being out, surrounded by people, & always on the move. I watch these people first hand on Snapchat, & part of me thinks- that looks cool, but 300 snaps later… I am so exhausted for these people. It makes me want to cuddle up in my cozy bed and take a nap for all those busy bodies Snapping their day away.

I think being a “yes man” is a great quality, & I do try to say yes as much as I comfortably can, but I also think the power of saying NO is just as great. It’s empowering to know what you want, what you don’t, & to be able to express that freely.

If your friends give you shit for being a homebody (cause I know they do), feel free to let them know that homebodies are known to be very independent, know what they want, efficient, productive, sensitive, & very self aware. All in all, homebodies are the coolest so be proud of your stay at home ways!!

First & foremost, let’s talk about at my at Stay at Home Club uniform.

Just because I am not out raging at a bar wearing hot pants & thigh high boots (no FOMO for that situation, ever!), doesn’t mean I don’t do my best to look cute. I am all about prancing around the house in cozy co-ords, my boyfriend’s button ups (so casually cool when sweeping the floors), & COMFY ass cotton skivvies.

Typically, I’m a ban the bra type of gal, but I finally found some undergarments that I don’t want to rip off my skin & they have quickly become an integral part of my at home wardrobe. ON GOSSAMER intimates are majorrrr key. They are all cotton, & if you read this post, you know cotton is king. It’s the softest, the most breathable, & my no.1 favorite textile.

These undergarments are seamless, invisible under clothes, breathable (a panty must!! LOL.), & soft as butter. Plus, they’re sexy, in all the right ways. I am not a garter/bustier/crotchless panties kinda gal, tacky tacky, I prefer a more understated sexy vibe & these skivvies are just that. When it comes to undies & bras, women are surprisingly simple (shocker), we want to look hot & feel like we’re naked. ON GOSSAMER get’s it & made it happen.

I officially anoint ON GOSSAMER to be the clothiers of the entire Stay at Home Club.

Now, when it comes to what I like to do at home… well, the options are endless. If you’re a new member of the Stay at Home Club, this will help get you started on some ideas.

» Get creative!! Hop on Pinterest, or the DIY section of my blog, & bookmark some project ideas. Get those creative juices flowing & start a passion project. Build a lego set (love the architectural series), do a puzzle, or whip up some cool Instagram coasters for your coffee table.

» Make your own book club. I have a running list of books I want to read, & that’s one of my favorite at home activities. Whether it’s a fun thriller book or an informative business book, I always try to keep reading & keep the wheels spinning. Great place to look for new books: the iBook store on your iPad or iPhone. They have TONS of great book recs.

» Beauty night! Some nights I just drop everything & do a full on beauty night. I will turn on a good (& by good, I mean really bad) Lifetime movie & give myself a full on mani/pedi/facial. Sometimes I can even twist Zack’s arm to let me give him a facial as well. This is my favorite.

» Take a hot bubble bath with aromatherapy oils, turn on a mellow playlist, & teach yourself to meditate. Added bonus, if it’s raining out. Baths + rain are everything. Speaking of rain, if you’re a homebody, you know this is the BEST kinda weather.

» WORK. I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVE to work. I spend 99.9% of my time at home working & I love every minute of it.

» Netflix & chill, & by that I actually mean chill (I guess that actually means Netflix & make-out?). Watch a good movie you heard about or binge on a good show. Currently we’re hooked on Orphan Black. SO weird, but so good!!

» Take up juicing, baking, or cooking. All three are a healthy & fun thing to do at home. In my house, Zack is the chef & I am the Betty Crocker. We love cooking together & enjoying a yummy dinner on the patio.

» Learn to play CHESS! This is actually our number one favorite thing to do at home. We love to turn on the record player, probably some Fleetwood Mac, drink tea, & play a game (or 10) of chess. Not only is this my favorite game, but it’s GREAT brain training. If Chess isn’t your thing, Scrabble works well too.

» Host a happy hour! Like I said, just because I prefer to be at home doesn’t mean I don’t like people. We love having our close friends & family over for mini happy hours!

OKAY- so there you have it, a peek inside the life of a homebody & a formal invitation to join the Stay at Home Club. Throw on some comfy skivvies, make your home your sanctuary, & get to know yourself on a whole new level by channelling your inner introvert.

Let’s hear from you guys- are you homebodies? Or nah? If you are- I’d love to hear some of your favorite at home activities!!

  1. I am FOR SURE a homebody. And I seriously love orphan black. I binged all the seasons a couple months ago. I really like playing cards or having a low key game night with some close friends. but I also love to read as a solo activity or watch/try makeup tutorials(my boyfriend thinks I am such a freak when I do this).
