Ahh… you know what’s better than a three day weekend? The short week that follows ;).

Really though, this holiday weekend was JUST what the doctor ordered. I took a total break from the computer & just focused on being the present & having some mellow fun. Zack & I both work A LOT so it was nice to just have a weekend hanging out with him, doing a ton of really American things.

On Saturday we went for BBQ (I am always on the hunt for corn on the cob) & followed it up with a day at a really amazing secret beach we found (pretty major during fourth of July weekend), & ended the day with Finding Dory at the drive-in. First of all, I love the drive-in!! We pick up snacks, smuggle in the dog, & turn Zack’s hatchback into a full on comfy cave- just the best thing ever. SECOND OF ALL- how cute was Finding Dory? I loved it so much, & the ending was just uhhh-mazing.

On Fourth of July day we kicked things off with a super American style breakfast (bloody mary’s with huge ass pickles, bacon, hash, ya know… the whole nine). Then we went to Coronado beach, which, rumor has it, is one of the best beaches in the states?! Gotta admit, the sand it ridiculously soft & the water is SO so clear… which isn’t all too common in San Diego. After the breakfast food coma (not the best swimsuit look), I was so pleased to lay in the warm sand & start Babe Walker’s latest book (guilty pleasure).

Obviously we ended the day with fireworks. It’s the American thing to do… almost as american as the crowd of 50+ people who belted the national anthem in perfect unison during the fireworks finale.

» WKND feels… & I gotta say- if you’re EVER in San Diego or currently live here, run to Communal Coffee & order the avocado toast w/ egg & prosciutto + their orange creamsicle drink. GAME CHANGER & so freaking delicious. «
