9 Things I Read Online This Week (& you should too…)

fashionlush fall 2017 fashion trends

FULL TRANSPARENCY GUYS- I have nothing to write about today.

I have actually been racking my brain all morning, but it’s just kinda fried on ideas.

Last week was HEAVY on the content, so I guess I am feeling drained of words. I for sure used ’em all up last week with my S.M.A.D. post & the whole productive stoner article.

Sometimes, when I am feeling this way, I go to the web & look at some of my favorite sites to see if anything inside me is sparked. I just did this, & got totally sucked into Refinery 29/Bustle/Nylon/etc. for over an hour.

Way to utilize my time, ya? I think I had like 29 tabs open & was reading endless articles to Zack who is currently sitting behind me (I actually think he has earbuds in currently) about Pablo Escobar, the new IOS update, & how the Instagram grid is changing & everyone is straight tripping.

So, it hit me, why not just share all the good shit I am finding today on the world wide web with you guys… I highly doubt you’ve got your earbuds in (ahem, ZACK!!!).

The Latest on the Internets

1. All of the Crazy New Photo Effects Available In iOS 11: I am always the first to update to a new iOS when one comes out, & this one I am particularly excited about for a number of reasons, but mainly excited about the LIVE photo features added right in the photo albums section. If you swipe up from a live photo, you can now apply effects, which are either a loop, bounce, or long exposure!

The loop will make your photo do just that, loop to infinity. Bounce will make your photo turn into a boomerang going forwards & then coming back again (ABOUT TIME!). Long exposure will give your moving photo a cool blur to.

ALSO- you can change the location where the live photo ends- SO, if you had an eye shut or your hand is doing something weird (story of my life), you can move where it landed when both eyes were opened. GENIUS.

That said, you still can upload them as videos directly to Instagram BUT you can send them to your friends & you can also upload them to your stories *tip: hold down on the live photo when you upload it to your stories & it will become animated!)*

2. Proof You Need To Download The New iPhone Update Immediately: SPEAKING OF…. I am a huge techie, so yes, I am reading allll about this update today & learning all the cool new features. A few highlights include:

+ Siri got a makeover: she sounds more human/less robotic so you can actually converse with her, but best of all- she can TRANSLATE. I don’t use her a lot, but for translation when visiting other countries it could be super super helpful.

+ MAPS ARE SO MUCH BETTER: I rely on my maps for EVERYTHING as I am so directionally challenged, & the upgrade is much much more user friendly. It tells you when you need to switch lanes!! It also works indoors at malls & such. So if you’re in the mall and you’re gonna meet your Mom at TopShop, maps will tell you how to get there. Genius

+ Customizable Control Center: you know how you can swipe up to brighten your phone screen? That whole area, other than brightening the screen, is useless to me- but no longer. Now you can customize it so you can easily access all of your go-to tools.

+ New EMOJIS are coming: I updated & don’t see these just YET, but I guess they will come soon. Very excited for the exploding head Emoji since that’s my constant mood lately!

+ One Handed Keyboard: I am big into one hand typing, so this is super exciting cause it will make texting on the go SO much easier. You can edit this in your keyboard settings!!

3. Trainer Tricks to Get You to the Gym: I typically don’t have a hard time motivating myself, but the change in season OR something is making me super lazy & I am skipping workouts. I loved this article cause the advice was super practical. Particularly loved the 15 minute rule, go for 15 minutes & if you wanna leave or any of your excuses are actually bugging you, leave. Chances are, you won’t. Also- love the idea of cleaning out your Instagram newsfeed so the content actually inspires you vs. taking up your times (less memes, more workout accounts).

4. The Rise of the Mid-Tier Blogger: truth, if you are in the mid-tier blogger range (20K-80k followers), you’ve got the upper hand. TRUST ME. Brands are going to be all about the mid-tier blogger moving forward.

5. Glow Recipe is coming to a Target Near You: my sister actually introduced me to Glow Recipe & I am OBSESSED. They are a Korean Beauty brand featured & picked up on Shark Tank. My sister saw the episode & bought their Watermelon Glow Sleeping Pack + Blueberry Bounce Cleanser. I spent the night at her house, used both, & was sold. I was browsing the site today, looking at the insane collection of K-Beauty & saw they are COMING TO TARGET. This is so exciting. I am gonna clear those shelves.

6. Who What Wear Fashion Editor Tries Out the ‘Naked’ Fashion Trend: & NAILS IT. I am kinda busty up top… so this could easily go from chic to scandalous on me, but this article has definitely got me feeling SUPER INSPIRED. Busty girls- have you tried it? Should I? Any tips?

7. Bachelor WINTER Games are Happening: yesterday I shared on Instagram my despair for not having Bachelor Monday’s right now, today I learned The Bachelor Winter Games are coming!! Not saying I had anything to do with it, but have you read The Secret *lol*. I AM THRILLED. Supposedly Dean will be coming back, which would have excited me… if he wasn’t such a douche on BIP. I am sorry, but the innocent angel face thing (seen HERE & HERE) ain’t working for me anymore. Also, Nick Viali is rumored to come back… which is like his 100th time on a Bachelor Franchise show. Good times.

8. 10 Questions The Sinner Finale Needs to Answer: if you haven’t watched The Sinner, start your binging now… because the season finale is tomorrow & it’s gonna be a real banger. This show is incredibly disturbing, but SO damn good. If the season finale doesn’t answer these questions, I am really gonna need that head exploding emoji.

9. The One Exercise that is said to Actually Reverse Brain Aging: put on your dancing shoes babes… & sign up for a hip hop class… cause DANCING is being said to actually keep your brain on it’s A game.
