DIY ✄ Chain Camera Strap

Chain Camera strap

Being a fashion blogger, there is only ONE accessory that I always have with me, and that is my camera.

The only problem, it wasn’t much of an accessory with it’s hideous canvas strap & just all around blah-ness of carrying around a huge camera (kinda looking like a cheesy tourist everywhere ago).

Years ago, when I was just a wee DIY-er, I added studs to the strap of my vintage Nikon, and have been looking for something similar for my latest camera. I have been seeing some adorable chain camera straps (see above) that I have really been coveting, so I figured I would just make my own.

It was super easy, the hardest part actually ended up being finding the chain, as it MUST be a soldered.

Soldered chain literally mean it is melted shut, so it WILL NOT break. Camera’s aren’t cheap & camera straps serve the purpose of them being close by, with no risk of being dropped… so yes, get on the hunt for that soldered chain. It isn’t always easy to find, but Etsy is a safe bet!

  1. First off, I love your blog and your diy’s!!! Seriously, so cool. Secondly, I noticed your fabulous red and black nikon camera, and am curious if you painted it or it came like that (with the red)? If so, I’m so curious because I want to do that to my boring (grey) canon and am wondering if you have any tips or a tutorial for it. Thanks darling, and keep up the amazing work!

    1. Thank so much for the love :) My camera actually came like that, but I am sure there is a way you can paint it. I’d just be careful and maybe google “how to paint my camera” to see if there is any tutorial! good luck. xx
