The Birkenstock Resurrection

fashionlush, birkenstocks, spring 2014

With the sole exception of my one pair of icky flip flops that I wear only in my yard to clean up the B’s dog poop/ pull weeds, I have never really been much of a sandal wearer.

It’s partly due to the fact that I’ve got a “royal toe”, meaning the second toe is longer than the rest. Supposedly this means I come from royalty, but seriously… do I need a long toe to tell me that? Not a fan (#footinsecurities).

Plus, when it comes to my choice of shoes, cheesy open-toed stiletto sandal vs. a rad pair of boots. The boots will win, always.

Which is why my latest obsession is seriously odd- the Birkenstock. I owe this latest lush to my all time faves: the Olsen’s. They rock Birks like it’s going never been out of style, & since my friends and I live and die by our motto #WWOD (what would Olsen’s do), I had to get a pair on my feet stat. Now that I have them, they are literally all I wear.

The Olsen’s even wear theirs w/ socks, & trust me socks w/ sandals has never looked more chic. Possibly my next move… thoughts?

  1. I have a “royal toe” on each foot! I’ve never heard that term for it before, but am very particular about the types of sandals I’ll wear because of it!
