DIY T-Shirt Upgrade

fashionlush, do it yourself, shoulder cut out shirt

I’m totally into the simple look of a soft t-shirt, frayed jean shorts, & some rad ankle boots.

Sometimes though, I like to give my graphic tees a little edgy upgrade w/ some simple shoulder cut outs. It’s an easy little DIY T-shirt hack that I’ve been doing for years, but when I recently started seeing it pop up in some of my fave stores, I grabbed one of my Rolling Stones shirts & got to snipping.

Cutting out the shoulders makes a shirt instantly cooler, & the loose drape is really rad too (I like to give the holes an extra stretch to make them even slouchier). You can also do this project with loose long sleeves, button up blouses, or slouchy Fall sweaters.

Check out all the how-to deets below, & be sure to tag me on Insta with your creations (#FashionlushDIY).

Supplies: t-shirt of your choice (shop some of my faves below) | fabric scissors | pencil | circle stencil (traced with average sized cereal bowl).

1. fold your circle in half, turn your shirt inside out & lay your flat, trace your stencil onto the shirt.

2. cut along the semi circle through both sides of the shirt.

3. you can finish it with a hem if you like, but the raw edge doesn’t both me.
