Pantone’s Spring 2014 Color of the Year

pantone dazzling blue

It’s that time again- you know, the time that the color prodigies at Pantone decide which color is one to hoard for the coming year. Whether home decor, shoes, or fashion- it looks like dazzling blue is the hue to keep an eye out for in 2014.

As you all know, I am not a huge fan of color, yet I’ve always thought cobalt is a great way to add a pop to any look. It’s not too cheesy (i.e. pink or purple), nor too shocking (i.e. neons)- yet it’s chic, modern, and edgy. Not to mention, this color seriously looks good on anyone/ everyone.

Check out my top 10 dazzling blue picks. Props Pantone for another great pick (check out last years winner here).

1. Basics are always in, and are great transitional pieces for when the weather cools down (oh how I miss my layers). I love this simple, yet sexy, colbalt silk cami– it’d be perf with some black leather skinnies, sky high booties, a statement necklace, a moto jacket, and a chunky infinity scarf.

2. Could I be more obsessed with jumpers? This blue silk babe would be the perfect addition to the romper collection growing in my closet. I am digging that mid-calf length.

3. Add a little vintage flair to your arm party with this dainty blue stone bangle, which I would end up wearing a little higher up my arm (you know, like an arm cuff?!).

4. Own it, love it. This royal silk maxi– has been one of my faves as of late- especially when worn with a cute belt and tons of long necklaces. Sometimes even a floppy hat… and a vest.

5. Not all blue, but I had to include the “So Many Emotions” mini clutch by Baggu in this list. Too cute.

6. Another hot trend for Fall 2013, one that I am esp. excited about, is athletic inspired gear. Sweaters (such as this one)/ varsity jackets/ baseball caps/ & cute athletic knee highs should all be on your fashion radar.

7. Blue polish on your nails… or toes… is a total win.

8. If you didn’t know, I am totally addicted to beanies. It’s one of the biggest reasons I can’t wait for Fall! I need to add this blue one to my arsenal, stat.

9. Yea.. so obviously this is a bit out of everyone’s budget, yet I can’t help but drool over the Celine Nano Shopper Tote in Cobalt. One day.

10. Last, but not least, I couldn’t complete this list without a great pair of blue suede shoes (which would be so cute with a pair of ankle socks).

So- how do you guys feel about the color of the year for 2014? Love it or leave it?

xx. E
